Description

This Route begins in front of the Collons tourist office and leads towards Les Mases along a beautiful forest path. Along the way, you’ll pass the Grande Dixence dam, the highest gravity dam in the world, before continuing on to Les Mayens d'Euseigne. Enchanting views follow one after another as you reach the banks of the Borgne and continue towards Evolène, where welcoming terraces await to reward the day’s efforts.

Turn-by-turn directions

Start your journey in front of the Les Collons tourist office and continue along a road with six hairpin bends to reach Les Mases. Once in Les Mases, take a pretty forest path on your right that will lead to Praperrot, then to the imposing Grande Dixence dam.  The ascent to Les Mayens d'Euseigne begins here featuring breathtaking views of the village of Hérémence and the Valais Alps on the right bank of the Rhône Valley. At La Crêta, take the path down to La Luette and, at the end of the village, turn right towards the bus stop to follow the wild path along the left bank of the Borgne, through an unusual landscape. A few metres before the hamlet of Le Crou, you’ll need to push your bike up a 250-metre-long slope, but this will quickly be forgotten as the atmosphere and landscape leading to Lanna are magical. Your final destination, Évolène, is just a few pedal strokes away.

Author's recommendation

The trail along the Borgne River is beautiful and wild. Although an easy ride, it still requires good control of your gravel bike and a bit of physical strength to push it up a steep 250-metre slope.
