Thanks to the feeder cableway, you can reach the start of the ride in Jeizinen in 10 minutes from Gampel. The approximately 900 meters descent leads directly from Jeizinen over a historic field path, through the Furuwald, and further to an old building ruin that you can ride through. Then it goes into the bright and repeatedly scenic Pitschwald. Here, technically demanding sections over rocky stones and short root passages await you. The view opens up into the valley again and again. Once these sections and some pushing parts are managed, a small detour to the village of Bratsch and a visit to the viewing platform «Terrasse du Rhone» near the church is worthwhile.
The last section first offers again technically demanding passages and some hairpin bends before you continue with trail flow on the Jeizibärg-Weg. Finally: a relaxed roll on the main path from Gampel to Jeizinen. Watch out, this section is also used by many hikers.
Our favorites
Our favorite itineraries are part of a selection of the best routes in the region and are proposed by Valais/Wallis Promotion to best meet the expectations of our guests.
Turn-by-turn directions
The route is signposted only in one direction:
Jeizinen – Obri Zälg – Bratsch – Gampel
The first stage leads along a field path, the Jeizibärg-Weg, up to «Oberi Zälg». From there you branch off westwards from the hiking trail and ride smoothly through the Furuwald. After the ruin, several technically demanding sections follow over stony and rocky terrain. Two parts are exposed: for about 30 and later 20 meters pushing is required. The sections are secured with a steel cable. The path from Bratsch to Gampel up to the junction with the wider Jeizibärg-Weg is also popular with hikers and therefore demands consideration and respect. A trail bell is recommended on this section. Finally, you follow the Jeizibärg-Weg, past a chapel and wayside shrines, down to the village of Gampel. A left/right separation of hikers and bikers provides additional safety on this section.
