Description

You can reach Staldenried from Stalden in a few minutes using the aerial cableway. Here the loop tour begins with an ascent, where around 500 meters of altitude have to be managed up to the hamlet of Riedji. Take a short break here and enjoy the view of the Augstbord region and the Bernese Alps with the striking Bietschhorn. Then a wonderful single trail leads through the forest to Unnerbrunnu and onwards to Visperterminen. The Heida village, with Europe's highest vineyard, offers many cultural experiences and hosts impressive barns in the old village center. The tour continues with a short descent to Niederhäusern. Afterwards, you will find a simple idyllic trail with a flat section, a short steep climb, and a final descent to Staldenried. From Staldenried, a flowing trail leads to Neubrück. The last stretch to Visp can be covered on the connecting trail Zermatt–Visp (No. 150).

Turn-by-turn directions

The aerial cableway takes you from Stalden to Staldenried in a few minutes. From here, the circular route leads with an ascent of approx. 500 vertical meters to "Riedji." This hamlet invites you to take a short break - the panoramic view to the west with the Augstbord region and to the north with the Bernese Alps is unmistakable. After a short stop, you ride through the forest on a wonderful single trail to "Unnerbrunnu" and further to Visperterminen. The Heida village Visperterminen, with the highest vineyard north of the Alpine ridge, offers a lot of culture and impressive barn buildings in the old village center. The route then continues with a short descent to "Niederhäusern." Afterwards, the route flows onto an idyllic trail that initially runs along the contour lines, then with a short ascent and later descending to the beginning of Staldenried. The trail is easy and enjoyable to ride. From Staldenried, an alternative is a flowing trail to "Neubrück," and the last meters to Visp can be covered on the connecting trail Visp-Zermatt (No. 150).
