Description

Note: The Furwald singletrail is open, but access is only via the intermediate station Trift (access from Kreuzboden is closed).

The Furwald singletrail begins with the ascent from Triftalp via the forest road through the young larch forest. At Zingelstapfu, the view opens up to Lake Mattmark in the south, the Saas mountain panorama, and Saas-Fee. From here, it is only downhill to Saas-Grund. First over the old field road, then zigzagging to the upper edge of the "Furwald". From bend to bend, the singletrail leads deeper into the cool larch forest, crosses the irrigation channel with the "Fliehwasser", and repeatedly opens the view of the four-thousand-meter peaks of the Saas Valley and the rugged rock faces. Shortly before the destination, the view falls on the village of Saas-Grund.

This singletrail is an old, little-used hiking trail away from the large tourist flows.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the Triftalp junction, the trail leads via the field road up to the "Zingelstapfu". At the hairpin bend, the trail branches off to the right. At the next junction, it continues downwards to the right. After about 15 bends, the trail reaches an old, wide field road. Shortly before the end of the forest, the narrow path goes down to the left. After some hairpin bends, at the next junction at the irrigation channel, it continues left to the turning area. After about 50m, the trail turns right onto the narrow path and follows the zigzag to the next junction, where it continues straight to the field road. From here, it goes down the mountain via the field road to the valley station in Saas-Grund.
