Description

After arriving at the Fiescheralp by cable car, head west through the village. Shortly before the end of the settlement, turn right onto a natural / gravel road and head up a short ascent of around 100 metres. The highest point offers a breathtaking view over Lake Schönboden and the Valais mountain panorama. This is also where the trail begins. Take the trail on the far right, close to the lake. At the end of the lake, turn left and ride down to Bättmerhittä. After 100 metres on the dirt road towards Bettmeralp, the trail turns right again. Follow this to Bettmersee. The Bettmerhorn cable car valley station which leads to the next leg is just below Bettmersee. Include the Wurzenbord flow trail as an additional leg. The Wurzenbord chairlift is just a few hundred metres from the Bettmerhorn gondola lift.

Turn-by-turn directions

To avoid the strenuous ascent, take the cable car to the Fiescheralp at 2,212 m above sea level and head off directly into the Alpine surroundings.

The well-signposted bike trail from Fiescheralp, leads in the direction of Schönbodensee. The route is easy and leads across beautiful Alpine meadows with sweeping views. The trail is not technically very demanding.

From Schönbodensee, the route continues on a moderately sloping path to Bettmersee at 2,000 metres. The trail is easy to ride on and offers impressive views of the surrounding mountains.

After a short break at Bettmersee, a pleasant, flowing bike trail leads down to the car-free village of Bettmeralp at 1,950 m above sea level. The descent is technically easy and suitable for all levels of rider.

Public transport

Accessible by train and bus: by train from Brig or Oberwald to Fiesch railway station. Then take the aerial cableway Fiesch, Aletsch Bahnen AG up to the Fiescheralp.

Take cantonal road 19 to the Fiesch exit and follow Furkastrasse to the car park.
