Description

After arriving on Fiescheralp with the cable car, ride through the village heading west. Shortly before the end of the settlement, turn right onto a natural/gravel road. A short ascent of about 100 meters in elevation awaits you. At the highest point, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view over the Valais mountain panorama. The trail also starts there. Take the track on the far right, close to the lake. At the end of the lake, turn left and ride down to Bättmerhitta. After 100 meters on the natural road towards Bettmeralp, turn right again onto a trail that you can follow to Bettmersee. Below Bettmersee is already the valley station of the Bettmerhorn gondola, which takes you to the next stage.

Add the Wurzenbord flow trail as an extra stage. The Wurzenbord chairlift is only a few hundred meters from the Bettmerhorn gondola.

Turn-by-turn directions

Take the gondola to Fiescheralp at 2212 meters altitude to avoid the strenuous climb and start directly in the alpine surroundings.

From Fiescheralp, the well-marked bike trail leads towards Schönbodensee. The route is easy and passes over beautiful alpine meadows with wide views. The trail is not technically very demanding.

From Schönbodensee, continue on a moderately descending path to Bettmersee at 2000 meters. The path is well rideable and offers impressive views of the surrounding mountains.

After a short break at Bettmersee, a smooth and pleasant bike trail leads down into the car-free village of Bettmeralp at 1950 meters altitude. The descent is technically easy and suitable for all riding levels.

By train from Brig or Oberwald to Fiesch station. Then take the Fiesch cable car operated by Aletsch Bahnen AG up to Fiescheralp.

Approach

Follow cantonal road 19 to the Fiesch exit, then Furka road to the parking options.

Large, fee-based parking lot at the old valley station of the Fiesch-Eggishorn cable car, Aletsch Bahnen AG.
