Explore a fascinating trail in the heart of the Val des Dix with breathtaking panoramic views of the Hérémence region by bike.
This demanding 20-kilometre mountain bike circuit, with a 673-metre positive vertical drop, is perfect for experienced mountain bikers. Starting from the Les Masses chairlift, it leads through the Thyon 2000 mountain pastures to the Thyon crests, while the descent to the Essertse mountain pasture offers incredible views of the Val d'Hérens and the Grande Dixence dam. The natural landscape and the diversity of the local fauna make this mountain bike tour a truly memorable adventure.
Once at the top of the Les Masses chairlift, cross the Thyon mountain pasture on a tarmac road. Then take an easy, level dirt track to reach the ‘Tsa’. From here, start climbing towards the Thyon crests on a dirt road. Be careful, as stones on the path can cause your bike to skid. From the summit of Etherolla, follow a technical single trail over the crests of Thyon, then descend to the Essertse gullies, with a chance to admire this unique biotope and the view of the Grande Dixence dam. On the way down, stop at the Essertse hut to enjoy some local specialities, then continue on a singletrack through the forest to Prapperot. The return journey to the start of the Les Masses chairlift is on a flat forest road.
Stop off at the Essertse hut, which serves homemade food and drinks and is open every day during the summer until mid-September.
