Length

Duration

Description

The tour starts at the valley station and follows the road uphill. After the Triftbach river, the route runs for the most part in the cool larch forest. It is worth making a short stop at the Josef Chapel. From this point you have a panoramic view over the entire village of Saas-Grund.

Afterwards, you cross the goods of the Alpe Bodme and Zerengi. After a few sharp turns just before the Tewald, the view of the Saas mountains and Saas-Fee opens up. From this point on, the forest becomes sparser and the view to the mountains remains. From a distance you can see the Triftalp, which is farmed from the end of June to the beginning of September. Through the young larch forest you reach the Zingelstapfu. Here you can also see the Mattmark lake in the south.

Kreuzboden soon becomes visible in the distance. With little ascent but an impressive view to the north, the trail continues to just below Kreuzboden. After the last zigzag ascent, a fantastic view from the Kreuzboden lake across to the Mischabel chain awaits you.
