Description

Leaving from the Ycoor Lake in the centre of Crans-Montana, this route takes you via narrow forest tracks to explore the lakes that surround the resort. The tour starts with a gentle 2km descent to reach the forest, then another 2km that are more or less flat , and which lead to the Briesses Lake. You’ll then head up towards Lake Moubra, and on to Lake Grenon in the centre of the resort. This is a route that is not too technical, and at under 9km and with a height gain of just 162m, it is suitable for all ages and all levels!

Turn-by-turn directions

Starting from the centre of Montana, the route takes you to the Marigny funicular stop, then descends on a forest path towards the former pneumology center. A gentle slope will take you to the Lac des Briesses, then the ascent towards Les Pahiers and finally to the Lac de la Moubra and back to the resort via the centre of Montana, passing under the Lac d'Ycoor.

Public transport

The resort of Crans-Montana is easily accessible from Sierre station with the SMC bus company and from Sion station with the bus company CarPostal.

The free shuttle buses of the SMC bus company serve the whole resort of Crans-Montana. The nearest stop to the start of this hike is: Ycoor

Approach

To reach Crans-Montana by car, take the exit of the A9 motorway (Rhône motorway) called "Sierre ouest". At the motorway exit, turn left and follow the signs for "Sierre". At the roundabout, turn right. Continue for 500 metres, then at the entrance to Sierre, turn left following the signs for "Crans-Montana". The journey takes about 20 minutes.
