Turn-by-turn directions
The Courtavey Bike starts near the small lakes of Étang d’Ycoor and Étang de Grenon, in the historic centre of Crans-Montana. The route quickly gains altitude on paved roads and reaches a viewpoint above Les Barzettes, offering sweeping views over the Rhône Valley some 1,000 metres below. Beyond, the peaks of the Weisshorn, the Zinalrothorn and the striking Dent Blanche line up to form an impressive Alpine panorama.
At Les Marolires, the route crosses the famous ski run "La Nationale", one of Switzerland’s oldest race pistes, which has hosted international ski competitions since the 1970s. Along the slopes of the local mountain Mont Lachaux, the trail alternates between open sections and short, flowing forest paths that are especially enjoyable on the descent. At the upper station of the Arnouva cable car, a stop at the restaurant of the same name with its large sun terrace is well worth considering. The return follows an easy flow trail through the forest down to the lower station of the same lift, followed by a final stretch on the road beside Lake Grenon, before finishing back at the starting point in Ycoor.
Technically easy, the route is particularly well suited to beginners and families.
