Description

After the great adventure of the previous day, this eighth stage takes place on a singletrack over several kilometers with a slight incline. Start with a first steep ascent from Randa, then follow the path that joins the Europaweg and crosses the Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge, which at 494 meters is the longest suspension bridge in the world. The route continues on the Europaweg, which runs wavelike along the Mattertal and lets you admire the Matterhorn longer with every step. Don’t hesitate to take a break at Täschalp to refuel before continuing your route. A steeper slope leads you to Blauherd, whose ski lifts provide access to numerous hikes and viewpoints. Over Stellisee and then Grünsee, you reach the Mountain Lodge Ze Seewjinu, where you can enjoy a shower and a warm meal.

Turn-by-turn directions

The route from Randa passes through Jungholz and ascends to the Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge. The path follows the Europaweg through Täschalp towards Zermatt. An ascent to the Blauherd ski lifts brings you to the highest point of the route and allows you to take the best paths to Stellisee and Grünsee before reaching the Mountain Lodge Ze Seewjinu.

Safety information

Use of the trail paths and information on this website is at your own risk. On-site conditions may cause changes to the route. Valais/Wallis Promotion assumes no responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of the information on this website.

For all trails:

  • Use only marked trail paths and follow all signposts and instructions - for your own safety, to protect grazing animals, and in respect of wildlife.
  • Close gates after passing through them.
  • Be considerate of other trail users, plants, and animals.

For mountain trails:

  • Plan your trail carefully: consider the required fitness level of all participants, weather forecasts, and seasonal dependencies.
  • Weather conditions in the mountains can change very quickly and without warning. Appropriate clothing and provisions (food and drink) are very important. In unstable weather, it is better to turn back early.
  • Inform your family about your trail route. Avoid traveling alone if possible.
  • Pay attention to warning signs indicating dangers at riverbanks, along streams below dams and reservoirs: the water level can rise quickly and without warning.
