Schubertiade RTS d'Espace 2

More than a thousand musicians, ensembles, soloists, choirs and brass bands will play their finest notes in the heart of the capital of Valais for a musical and festive weekend. Since 1978, generally held every two years, the RTS Espace 2 Schubertiade transforms a French-speaking city into a musical capital for a weekend. Choirmaster and host for Radio Suisse Romande, André Charlet, first conceived this formula in 1978. The aim was to convince audiences that Schubert's music is marvelous, that it can speak to the heart in a spontaneous and informal setting and not necessarily in traditional concert halls. From the outset, the tone was set: short and varied concerts, in sometimes unusual venues, in close proximity. Concerts without decorum, dedicated to Schubert and all classical music. A formula created by Schubert himself, who, in the back rooms of Viennese cafés, brought together his musician and poet friends for almost impromptu cultural encounters.
