1950 - Sion

Description

From 6 to 9 August 2025, the Domaine des Îles in Sion will be rocking to the beat of the 29th Guinness Irish Festival, celebrating the richness and diversity of contemporary Celtic music. Over four evenings, artists from five continents will take audiences on a musical journey ranging from Celtic punk rock to trad, metal, world music fusion, Viking influences and indie trad. On Wednesday, Tyr (Faroe Islands) will kick things off with sounds inspired by Norse legends, followed by Skiltron (Argentina) blending rock power and Celtic charm. On Thursday, Mànran (Scotland) will explore new musical territories, accompanied by Dlù (Scotland) and The Peelers (Canada). On Friday, the Máirtín O'Connor Band (Ireland) will transport the audience to Ireland, with Falasgair (Scotland) and Firkin (Hungary) as opening acts. On Saturday, Altan (Ireland) will close the festival, preceded by Uncle Bard and The Dirty Bastards (Italy). Swiss bands such as Saint City Orchestra and Red Shamrock will also be performing. Doors open at 6 pm on Wednesday and Thursday and at 4 pm on Friday and Saturday. Complimentary shuttles will run from Sion railway station to the festival site every 30 minutes until 3 am. Festivalgoers will be able to enjoy food stalls, crafts and a festive atmosphere, while free camping is also available for ticket holders. This is an must-attend event for all lovers of Celtic music and social revery in the heart of Valais.
