Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc ®
The North Face® Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc ® takes in 3 countries, seven valleys and 71 glaciers. Participants can choose between five trail running races, of which four pass through Valais. The UTMB® (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc®) measures 168 km with 9,600 m of ascent; a complete tour of the Mont Blanc Massif, it is considered the original and “queen” of the races. The CCC® (Courmayeur–Champex–Chamonix) measures 101 km with 6,100 m of ascent, and is known by many runners as “the little one”. The PTL® (la Petite Trotte à Léon) is “grand” tour of Mont-Blanc: a non-competitive team event measuring 300 km with 28,000 m of ascent. OCC (Orsières–Champex–Chamonix) measures 53 km with 3,300 m of ascent, and is considered the little Swiss sister. These mountain races have numerous passages at high altitude, often in difficult conditions (night, wind, cold, rain or snow).
