Chandolin

At nearly 2000m, Chandolin is one of the Europe’s highest villages that is populated the entire year. Inspiring poets in the past and a refuge for enigmatic personalities, Chandolin has retained its earlier charm. The old, enclosed village of Haufendorf still retains it original character. Leading down into the Rhone Valley, the Illgraben, at dizzying heights of over 1500m, is a major attraction near Chandolin. The giant cliff bowl was formed when numerous peaks collapsed or eroded.
