Veysonnaz Touring Tracks
A route specially created for ski touring enthusiasts, marked yellow-and-black and graded intermediate, starts just outside Veysonnaz on the road to Mayens de l’Ours. The ascent leads away from the pistes, between chalets and forest, and takes about two hours for 740 vertical metres; the route back down, however, is via the piste. The resort also offers a ski touring experience under the stars: every Tuesday from December to the end of March, enthusiasts can climb the Piste des Mayens from 5 to 9.30 pm, when it is closed to piste-grooming machines. Tourers will need head torches for the two-hour ascent. On these evenings, the Restaurant Mont Rouge at the top of the piste stays open until 9.30 pm.
