Staldenried - Gspon is a sunny area at the head of the Visp Valley. The car-free hamlet of Gspon, home to the highest-altitude football pitch in Europe, is the ideal place to enjoy a break in the great outdoors. The unrivalled views of the nearby mountains, including the Bietschhorn and surrounding glaciers, captivate visitors. The archetypal villages are the starting point for a wide variety of hiking trails, such as the spectacular path high above Gspon or the "Gsponeri" and "Finileri" trails along the highest bisses in Valais. With a little luck, hikers can encounter deer, ibex, marmots, eagles and other native wildlife. In winter, two ski lifts serve downhill slopes that are guaranteed to have snow. Visitors looking for a gentler pace can enjoy a leisurely snowshoe tour through the highest Swiss Stone Pine forests in the Alps.
