Located between Martigny and Sion, the climate of Saillon is mild enough for almond and fig trees to thrive here. It is also the world’s smallest vineyard, with only vines and memorialises the bandit and “Robin Hood of the Alps”, Joseph-Samuel Farinet. Situated on 1.6 square metres of land, it is owned by the Dalai Lama and tended by prominent figures such as Claudia Cardinale, Roger Moore and Zinédine Zidane. Head to the nearby thermal baths after a day’s work, and try a hay or Edelweiss massage. Or stone therapy with marble pebbles from Saillon.

The village is part of the network of the most beautiful Villages in Switzerland.
