Trient Gorge

The Trient torrent, which flows from the glacier of the same name, gouged the 200 metre-deep gorge in the rocks. A 187-metre-high bridge built in 1934 connects the two walls of the gorge, and there is a trail along the water below. This gorge is a paradise for climbers and botanists alike. The impressive, 114-metre-high "Pissevache" waterfall nearby is also worth a visit. In the year 1779, Goethe wrote: "There we were at last, facing the waterfall which surely deserves greater fame than many on this earth. […] We climbed all about, and sat by the waters with a yearning deep within, wishing to remain for hours, nay days of our lives in this place of enchantment."
