Swimming in Géronde Lake, cycling to Leukerbad and running on the Gemmi – these are the challenges that await those participating in Leukerbad’s 28-kilometre-long Gemmi Triathalon. Men and women start the 900m freestyle swim at the same time at the Géronde Lake in Sierre. The race continues for 25km on bike through Salgesch, Varen and on to Leuk to the first food station. Following the Albinen intersection, the course leads through Inden to Leukerbad. The second exchange is in the sports complex. The pièce de résistance is the running leg through the Gemmi Forest. The last few kilometres boast an ascent of more than 900m. The finish line is at the Gemmi cable car summit station. Individual legs are timed.
