Steam Railway via Furka
Built between 1902 and 1913 and following a long hiatus, the steam locomotives are once again in full operation. They make daily trips along the breathtaking stretch from Realp to the 18740metre-long Furka crest tunnel to Gletsch in the Upper Goms. Once the tunnel was constructed, the steam engines started again, today offering one of the most spectacular train rides in the Alps. The Glacier Express’ classic route from Realp to Oberwald has been continuously open since 2010. The route’s brilliant design, the nostalgic experience of the steam engines and the incredible mountainscape makes this a perfect and unforgettable adventure.
