Treasure hunt

Trip in time through village life

After picking up the treasure hunt map at the tourist office, visitors start the 2-kilometre trail by the sports and leisure facilities, located at the edge of a small forest. There’s a play area, and families can enjoy mini-golf, football, tennis and other activities; a kiosk by the start and finish of the route serves refreshments. The first four stops along the treasure hunt are located in this part of Bellwald; the trail then leads to the village, past many historical wooden barns typical of Valais. The village square has a small cinema, where guests can watch various short films on Bellwald free of charge. Stops 5 and 6 are located at the centre of the village. To reach stop 7, walkers have to climb back up towards the chairlift. The treasure hunt finishes close to the starting point.

Safety information and equipment: Hiking gear. Sun protection (cream and hat). Snacks and drinks. Bring a pencil for answering the puzzles.
Suggestion: The Ecomuseum on the village square opens for the guided village tour held on Wednesdays. If you would like to visit the museum at another time, call at the tourist office to borrow the key.
Public transports: SBB train (Swiss Federal Railways) to Brig; then change on to a train of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn railway as far as Fürgangen-Bellwald. Here, take the cable car to Bellwald.
Parking: Car parking spaces are available near the starting point of the treasure hunt, close to the sports facilities. There is also a free car park lower down in the village.
