On the south side of the Simplon Pass at 1476m, Simplon is one of the “most beautiful villages in Switzerland”. Amidst unique mountain scenery, the Simplon Pass, from which the Simplon Eagle monument soars skyward, is one of the most picturesque Alpine passes. In the village itself, the typical stone slab roofs and the historic village square exude Italian charm. Apart from the Ecomuseum in the “Alte Gasthof”, the surroundings offer hiking trails of all levels of difficulty as well as options for skiing and snowshoe tours in winter.
