Via Stockalper
The turmoil of the Thirty Years' War favoured the rise of the trader Kaspar Stockalper. Many magnificent buildings bear witness to his wealth and can be seen on your hike along old mule trails to the south. Your tour starts at the Stockalper palace in Brig and takes you up to the Simplon Pass, which was one of the most important routes to Italy in earlier times. A leisurely walk along the river Diveria takes you to Gondo, where your journey ends with a night in the Stockalper Tower.
