Ganter Bridge
The bridge has been the quintessential symbol of connection since time immemorial. The reason the bold Ganter bridge exists is apparent at first glance: to connect Valais with the south via the Simplon route. People from all over the world have talked about the construction, dating back to 1980, with its spectacular span and its moving pillar bases which mean the bridge could be moved by up to 50 cm. It’s worth noting the use of the conditional here – another fundamental consideration in bridge-building!
