This unique natural terrace on the right bank of the Rhone is home to the most modern museum in the Alps – the World Nature Forum. The gateway to the Belalp and the Aletsch region, Naters stands where the high mountains meet the valley floor. Stretching from 673m to 4195m above sea level, the town spans the biggest altitude difference of any village in Switzerland. Easily reached via the Lötschberg and Simplon tunnels, Naters draws visitors for its old village centre, various museums, many historical and valuable buildings as well as numerous leisure and sports activities.
