The Valais is a hiker’s paradise in winter. Its 1000 kilometres of immaculately prepared winter trails invite hikers to leisurely strolls or athletic climbs in an unparalleled setting. With the winter sun as your companion, you can wander through silent snow-covered forests and over magnificent sunny terraces featuring fantastic views. This is as close as you can get to the high peaks and majestic glaciers of the Valais Alps. A steaming cup of schnapps and coffee or hot chocolate welcomes contented hikers in a snug mountain hut at the end of the day.
Winter magic on the Moosalp region’s panoramic terrace
Panoramic trail with fantastic views – a tour not to be missed! Away from the crowded slopes of the larger winter destinations, the Moosalp region is small and leisurely so as to be perfect for families. Appropriately named the "panorama terrace", the route from Törbel to Bürchen offers plenty of peace and quiet. Take the post bus from Visp or Stalden to Törbel – Furen to start the hike through the village scattered with weathered wooden houses. The nearly level trail leads through snowy forests to the hamlet of Obere Hellela, near the village of Zeneggen. The route makes a broad sweep with a slight descent to the Bürchen-Ronalp post bus stop. Or you can extend your journey via Unterbäch/Brand to Eischoll/Strygge.
