Winter hiking

The Valais is a hiker’s paradise in winter. Its 1000 kilometres of immaculately prepared winter trails invite hikers to leisurely strolls or athletic climbs in an unparalleled setting. With the winter sun as your companion, you can wander through silent snow-covered forests and over magnificent sunny terraces featuring fantastic views. This is as close as you can get to the high peaks and majestic glaciers of the Valais Alps. A steaming cup of schnapps and coffee or hot chocolate welcomes contented hikers in a snug mountain hut at the end of the day.

The Tärbiner circuit begins in the upper part of Visperterminen and leads along the car-free road towards Brunnu. Here the route continues through the idyllic Gärsteru Forest to the forest chapel. Savour it on this stretch of the trail, along with the Bodma hamlet and the wonderful views to the Saaser and Zermatt Valleys. The trail returns to Visperterminen via the Ried hamlet. Tärbiner circuit
