Even in summer, skiers and snowboarders will find 20 kilometres of immaculate glacier pistes in the Valais. The ski resorts on the Allalin in Saas Fee and on the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise in Zermatt are open all year round. Even very warm days are comfortably cool at over 3500 metres – ideal conditions for carving a few elegant turns in the snow. The popular summer training grounds of many international ski teams offer varied pistes for beginner and expert skiers and snowboarders. This is a summer delight only to be had in the Valais.
The highest underground funicular in the world, the «Metro Alpin», leads to the Mittelallalin. At 3500m, the highest revolving restaurant in the world affords close-up views of the giant peaks of the Alps. Next door, visitors experience the world of glaciers firsthand in the world’s largest ice pavilion. Twenty kilometres of well-groomed summer pistes on the Fee Glacier (3500m), ski lifts, spectacular views of the highest Valais peaks, as well as the warm summer sun, make for unforgettable summer skiing. Naturally, the ski and snowboard schools of Saas Fee are also open in summer.
