Introduction to ski touring
Supervised by a guide, this course is for all those who have always dreamed of ski touring but are not sufficiently familiar with the mountains and do not have the necessary equipment. This can be rented on-site. The course is offered every winter by several resorts and can be booked directly at the local tourist offices.
Introductory sessions accompanied by a professional are offered on Wednesday morning on the Mayens-de-l'Ours hiking trail. Bookings should be made with Veysonnaz Tourism the day before by 16:30 at the latest. Allow CHF 20 for the guide and CHF 42 for renting the equipment.
Discover ski touring with a complementary introductory session organised by the Swiss Ski and Snowboard School any afternoon from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Booking mandatory at least 24 hours in advance with Anzère Tourism or on the resort's website.
Join a professional coach for a free introductory session to skiing with climbing (seal) skins every Sunday between 10am and 12 noon on the slopes at Crans-Montana. Equipment can be rented in the resort. Booking at Crans-Montana Tourism mandatory up until 6pm the day before at the latest.
Région Dents du Midi
The Dents du Midi region offers a free introductory trail with info boards outlining the fundamentals of ski touring, as well as how to use AVD equipment in searching for an avalanche victim. Additional videos are also available via a QR Code. You can take your first step towards practice in Morgins. Introductory courses are held daily on request from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 16:00. From CHF 105 per person including equipment hire, you learn the basics of ski touring from qualified guides. Book your adventure 24 hours in advance via the tourist office.
Small group lessons for 2 to 6 participants are available on the ski touring route from Tortin to Siviez, certain Wednesdays on fixed dates from 10am to 12 noon, for the modest sum of CHF 10 per person. Refer to Nendaz Tourism for more information regarding the dates as well as registration.
Every Tuesday and Sunday from 8.30am, enjoy a 5 to 6-hour guided ski touring discovery experience in the Sunnegga ski area. This course can be booked until 6pm the previous evening at Zermatters ski school and costs CHF 259 per person, including equipment hire. The activity is held provided there is a minimum of 3 participants.

By learning the basics on an introductory ski touring day under the supervision of an experienced mountain guide, you'll acquire all the skills you need to start! Suitable for good downhill skiers (from ten years old), this programme is also open to snowboarders, who can use a splitboard.
