The villages and cities along the Alpine passes have long been important thoroughfares and trading centres on the way to the trade routes of the south. A hike along these historically significant paths is at the same time a journey into the past. There are many fascinating stories to discover – travelling merchants and mercenaries have left numerous traces and impressive buildings behind them.
