Historic routes
Numerous historically significant routes traverse the Valais. The villages and cities along the Alpine passes have long been important thoroughfares and trading centres on the way to the trade routes of the south. A hike along these historically significant paths is at the same time a journey into the past. There are many fascinating stories to discover – travelling merchants and mercenaries have left numerous traces and impressive buildings behind them.
