Abricotine apricot brandy
Abricotine, or apricot brandy, from Valais is made primarily with apricots of the Luizet variety (90%). It is delicious sprinkled on an apricot sorbet as a dessert, in cocktails and cakes or simply to round off a good meal. The Luizet has been cultivated in Valais since 1838: an ancient variety with juicy flesh and a fragrant flavour, it flourishes under the Valais sun. Its brandy, or eau-de-vie, has a strong taste of apricot with a touch of almond. The AOP designation guarantees the origin of the fruit and the quality of the distillation process; each brandy is tasted blind and analysed before being awarded the label.
