Day 1

Discover Leukerbad (Loèche-les-Bains)

Start your stay in the Leukerbad region. Before you set off on your mountain or e-bike, enjoy the panorama of the Valais mountains from the thermal waters of the resort, the entrance to which is included in the Valais Bike package. In order to best prepare your two-wheel adventure, make sure that you have all the necessary equipment thanks to our online checklist.

Activities in the Gemmi region

There's nothing like a bit of gentle sport to get you fit before three days of intensive pedalling. Go for a short hike in the area around the resort by following the thermal springs trail, an itinerary that takes you into the Dala gorges. Or take the Gemmi cable car to admire the view from its panoramic platform. If you feel like it, head off on the Via Ferrata adventure next to the cable car arrival station.

Day 2

First bit of pedalling on the Valais Bike route

Can't wait to get on your mountain bike? The Valais Bike adventure is finally beginning. Board the Torrent gondola lift and head for the Rinderhütte, where one of the most beautiful single trails in Switzerland awaits you, offering a splendid view of the Rhone Valley and the many 4,000 m surrounding mountains. If you feel like more of the Valais mountains pure air, the Leukerbad Flowtrail is ideal for a thrill or two before starting your traverse.

From Leukerbad to Unterbäch

After a hillside crossing, you’ll get to Feselalp and start the descent to the Rhone plain. While crossing the village of Steg, take the opportunity to test the newly built pumptrack before continuing on to Raron (Raron), then take the gondola lift to Unterbäch where you will spend the night. Explore this sunny and friendly village and, if your legs are not too tired, try the 300 m2 pumptrack next to the Walliserhof Hotel.

Day 3

Ascent to Moosalp and descent via Kalpetran

For this second day mountain or e-biking, a chairlift takes you and your bike to Brandalp. From here, climb up to Moosalp and take a break to admire the view and catch your breath. Take a well-deserved gourmet break at the restaurant in Moosalp, where you can enjoy a legendary Cremeschnitte before starting the long descent down the almost 1,100-metre-long Kalpetran Enduro Trail.

Discover Grächen

Once you have reached the Zermatt valley, all you have to do to complete the second stage of your journey is to return to the family resort of Grächen using your calf muscles. Once there, why not visit the traditional Sunnegg brewery to refresh yourself after the day's efforts? Or take a few steps along the Chilcheri and Eggeri bisses (ancient waterways), which offer shady areas to relax in.

Day 4

On the World Championships trail

The last step starts with a bang! Test your ability by following in the footsteps of the UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships, which took place in this region in 2019. Then continue on your route, which includes a cable car ascent between Stalden and Gspon, to reach the Col de Gibidum, the highlight of the day, before descending to Brig, the final destination on the trip. Enduro enthusiasts can also choose to descend to Visp by following the Giw Enduro route and taking the train to Brig.
