Emosson Dam
The Emosson resevoir, situated above the Trient Valley, was brought into service in 1972 to satisfy a high demand for electricity from all over the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Its waters come from the old submerged Barberine dam, erected between 1921 and 1925. It is a much appreciated excursion destination, notably for the dinosaur trail close by. It can be reached by road and by taking the funicular which was used during the construction of the dam.
