Description

The snowshoe trail starts behind the valley station of the Hannig cable car and goes up to the Hohneggu road. From here, the trail leads through the snow-covered larch forest. Passing the houses of the Hohneggu, the trail climbs in a slight zigzag and with a few glimpses of the Saas mountains to the Alpenblick restaurant. The panorama terrace at Alpenblick invites you to take a break. From here you have a view over the whole village of Saas-Fee and the Mischabel massif. Then it's a short walk through the forest again and passing the huts of Hannigalp.  From the tree line, the finish, the Hannig mountain station, is already close enough to touch. After the last alpine hut, the trail goes cross country to the mountain station. Here the terrace of the Hannig mountain restaurant awaits with a breathtaking view of the four-thousand-metre peaks of the Saas Valley.

The cable car is recommended for the descent to Saas-Fee.

Turn-by-turn directions

Follow the road north from the Hannig Valley station for a few metres. At the first junction, turn left onto the path to the Boutique Lodge Spycher until it joins the Hohneggweg. Follow this for a few metres to the north until a clearly visible marker appears on the left side of the path.  Now zigzag along the markings until the trail joins the Carl Zuckmayer Weg. Follow the path in a southerly direction to the Alpenblick restaurant. From there, stay on the broad track briefly before the trail turns left into the forest. Follow this smaller trail along the markings to the edge of the forest.   Stay on the trail until you reach the visible Alpe Hannig. At Alpe Hannig, the trail continues north for approx. 400m before it curves around to pass a barn. From here, the trail leads north to the last bend before the trail ends at the Hannig mountain station.
