Description

The Furwald Singletrail starts with the ascent from Triftalp via the forest road through the young larch forest. At the «Zingelstapfu», the view opens up to the Mattmark dam in the south, the Saas mountain panorama and Saas-Fee. From here it's all downhill to Saas-Grund. First along the old field road and then zigzagging to the upper edge of the «Furwald» forest. From turn to turn, this single trail leads deeper into the cool larch forest, crosses the suone with the «Fliehwasser» and from time to time gives a view of the four-thousand-metre peaks of the Saas Valley and the rugged rock face. Shortly before the finish, the view goes over the village of Saas-Grund.

This single trail is an old, rarely used hiking trail far away from the big tourist crowds.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the Triftalp junction, the trail leads up the field road to the «Zingelstapfu». At the hairpin bend, the trail turns off to the right. At the next junction, the trail continues downhill to the right. After about 15 bends, the trail reaches an old, wide field road. Just before the end of the forest, turn left down the narrow trail. After a few hairpin bends, continue left at the next junction by the Suone until you reach the turning point. After about 50m, the trail turns right onto the narrow path and follows the zigzag to the next junction, where it goes straight on to the field road. From here, the trail heads down the mountain to the valley station in Saas-Grund.
