Valais' cantonal museums are a public cultural institution dedicated to the service and development of the community. Together the Valais Art Museum, the Valais History Museum and the Valais Nature Museum make a key contribution towards preserving the cultural heritage of all Valais natives, as well as offering the public an opportunity to discover it.
The three museums are distinguished by the differing nature of their collections. The common element which unites them is the cultural history of the canton in the broadest sense, an approach which is supported by the museum directors.
Their key functions form the basis for their activities of assembling, preserving and studying a permanent collection and making it available to the general public.
