Winter sunshine in Crans-Montana

Crans-Montana is synonymous with sunshine and magnificent views of the Valaisian Alps. The landscape facing south is in fact a sun-drenched terrace high above the Rhône Valley.

In a winter with less snowfall than normal this may be a problem. In gleaming sunshine the breathtaking silhouette of the Valaisian Alps expands in a spectacular way. The proximity of the four-thousand-meter peaks to each other is probably unique in the world. The winter hiking tour begins at the mountain station of the Sierre – Montana Cable Car. The route leads first through the village, then through quiet forests, skirting the lake Lac de Chermignon and subsequently climbing to the Station Signal. The return hike is accomplished via the Vermala section of the village, ultimately ending at the mountain station of the cable car.
