The peaceful winter world of Hellela

Situated high up on a hillside, the holiday resort of Bürchen commands fantastic views of the Rhône valley. Whereas the road winding up the hill from Visp to Bürchen is very dark and shady, the village itself is surprisingly sunny. Most of the houses there are holiday homes and they all enjoy superb views of the Rhône valley and the Walliser Alps. Piercing the horizon to the north is the impressive pyramid of the Bietschhorn, which is nearly 4000 m high.
