Museums & theatres

Over 50 museums of all sizes and covering a wide-variety of topics of varying importance are open to the public in Valais. In Sion three cantonal museums offer visitors an overview of the canton's history, arts and nature whereas more precise themes are developed elsewhere: Martigny in Roman times, soapstone in Bagnes, vines and wine in Sierre-Salquenen, folk art in Lötschental, the history of transport in Simplon... Thus the ensemble of Valaisan museums covers an extremely diverse range of subjects from the Baroque chapels in the Conches Valley to navigation in St. Gingolph.
