Trient Gorge & Pissevache waterfall
The Trient river, which rose from the glacier of the same name, gouged the 200 metre-deep gorge in the rocks. The impressive, 114 metre-high "Pissevache" waterfall is also worth a visit.
In the year 1779, Goethe wrote: "There we were at last, facing the waterfall which surely deserves greater fame than many on this earth. High above us, the waters spouted from a crack in the rocks, bursting like flames into a basin, whence they moved onward, fumes of misty haze and flaky foam riding on the winds...We climbed all about, and sat by the waters with a yearning deep within, wishing to remain for hours, nay days of our lives in this place of enchantment."
