Healing Herbs & Steppe Grass
Herb gardens at the Panorama Trail on the southern flank of the Lötschberg speak to all of one's senses. In three carefully planned gardens as well as in the Bach Flower Garden between Ausserberg and Mund a veritable nature-apothecary delights the eye and dispenses its aromas. Not only the name of each plant is mentioned but also their healing effects. For instance, it tells hikers that hollyhock and valerian are excellent to calm nerves and that wormwood helps fight a lack of appetite.
While this information is highly interesting, visitors should not forget the glorious surroundings: rare plants seldom found anymore, such as the steppe gras that grows in abundance, age-old babbling irrigation channels called suonen, and the breath-taking view of the impressive mountain chain on the opposite side of the valley all await the visitor.
