Summer
An Alpine world all to yourself: summer in the Valais mountains
Plenty of sunshine, long days and pleasant temperatures make the Valais an Alpine paradise in summer, with unique sights to see. Some made by nature, others fashioned by man, but always full of fascinating beauty: the highlights include the 23 km-long Aletsch Glacier, protected by UNESCO as a Natural World Heritage site, the Suonen (an irrigation system from the Middle Ages), the nature reserves in the Binn valley, Pfyn-Finges and the Biosphere in the Val d’Hérens. Mountain railways, many of which are an attraction by themselves, carry you up to mountain lakes and peaks with 360° panoramic views.
